The UL marching band is hurrying to raise the rest of the money it needs to be able to travel to New York to play the 86th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. They are one of only TEN bands that were invited, with almost 400 total bands applying for the gig. Keep reading to see details on how much they need and how you can possibly help!

Members of the Pride of Acadiana Marching Band still need to raise $60,000, he said. They've already come up with more than $300,000.

Each band member taking the trip must pay $1,500. But that won’t cover the entire cost of travel...

Some unexpected expenses have arisen, Taylor said. For example, he just received a bill for $16,000 to cover a fuel surcharge for the Boeing 767 jet airliner that has been chartered to take the band to the Big Apple.

So, additional funding has been generated by the sale of apparel, such as t-shirts and sweatshirts, and through an “Adopt a Band Member” campaign. Some area businesses have made contributions, too.
