Strong Storms Expected Tonight

That sparkle in her eyes tonight might not be all love and affection. It could be a flash of lightning and a rumble of thunder as a strong weather system moves through Acadiana. The picture just to the left is from the KATC Weather Lab and their projected timing on tonight's heavy weather with their Futurecast model. This is the forecast location of the system as of 6 PM tonight.

Meteorologist Daniel Phillips is suggesting that the heaviest weather will likely move through the area between 3 PM and 9 PM tonight. Areas to the west will likely feel the effects of this passing system first and the storms and heavy rainfall should progress to the east and exit the area before midnight. The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of Acadiana in a marginal risk for severe weather today and tonight. It appears as if the best threat for strong storms will come from the Lake Charles area into southeast Texas.

Following the passage of the storm system conditions across the area will become windy and much colder. The forecast high for Wednesday is almost 20 degrees cooler than the forecast high temperature for today. Wednesday should be cloudy, windy, and quite cold with a high temperature struggling to reach 60 degrees.

The rest of the work week appears to be much calmer and nicer. Sunny skies are expected for the area on Thursday. Warmer temperatures and a chance of showers will return to the area on Friday through the weekend.
