Social Media Threat Forces Search of Westgate High

A threat made on social media has Westgate High School officials and Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies investigating a possible weapon on campus.

Our news partners at KATC reported a Westgate High resource officer was notified of the threat prompting addition officers to be sent to the school.

School administrators and officers searched the school and every student's backpack. No firearm was found, but the investigation is ongoing. Deputies are following up on all related social media posts.
