Santa Won’t Need A Jacket This Weekend

The radio plays songs that dream of a White Christmas or suggests that Baby, It's Cold Outside. It's apparent those tunes weren't inspired by a Louisiana Christmas Day.  If you like your Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with a crackling fire,  hot cocoa, and a chill in the air you're probably going to be disappointed.

Mother Nature is not planning on serving up a dose of winter weather for the Bayou State at least for the first full weekend of Winter. In fact, you might be more inclined to don your finest holiday shorts and t-shirts instead of ugly Christmas sweaters.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a very mild weekend from Shreveport to Lake Charles to Lafayette and New Orleans. Temperatures along the I-20 corridor will be near 70 degrees for both Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a moderate chance of showers for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Along the I-10 corridor, Lake Charles and Lafayette will experience slightly lower rain chances and slightly higher temperatures. Forecasters are thinking that a temperature of 75 to 80 degrees will be quite common on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day should be a little cooler but still quite humid with a slight risk of a rain shower.

All of the springlike weather should come to a crashing halt during the day Monday and into Monday night as a cold front moves into and across the state. By Monday evening temperatures will feel a lot more like Christmas but there will be a significant threat of thunderstorms as the front moves through.
