When New Orleans Saints fans went to Candlestick Park in San Francisco two weekends ago, many were met with harassment and threats from 49ers fans causing a few to speak out about it. This in turn brought that to a new level when San Francisco police officers took control. During the NFC Championship game against the Giants this past weekend they tossed nearly double the people they did during the Saints-49ers game, totaling 110 people and 29 arrested! But how did they do it? Double the security? Keep a watchful eye? Well, sorta. They went undercover as Giants fans!

To get the right boost of security for the NFC Championship game against the New York Giants, San Francisco police officers went undercover as Giants fans. They heard the voices of the harassed and threatened New Orleans fans! This, in my opinion was VERY awesome of them to do!

One New Orleans native who now lives in the Bay Area had an especially rough time at the Saints-49ers game. According to the New York Post, Don Moses went to the game with his two daughters and his wife.

“The hostility and threats of violence were a constant throughout our experience,” Moses said in a letter to the San Francisco Chronicle, one that launched some soul-searching by city officials and led to some 49ers fans to apologize on behalf of their city.
“Every other word from dozens of fans around us was an f-bomb shouted at the top of their lungs,” Moses said. “There were seven or eight large 30- to 35-year-old guys directly behind us who cursed and threatened us the entire game.” He turned to ask them to tone it down in front of his girls and they yelled: “Do not turn around again! Do not ever turn around again.”

This, among other complaints, were noted by the San Francisco police, and they took action. According to fox8live.com they tossed 110 people and arrested 29.

"Sgt. Michael Andraychak said Monday that most of the arrests were alcohol-related and several were for resisting arrest.
One person arrested was a man charged with a felony for threatening an officer. He had his 2-year-old son with him, so he was also charged with child endangerment."

You stay classy San Francisco!

Now, I understand that those who harassed and threatened opposing fans don't represent an entire city, and that they have many a decent person in San Francisco. But sports fans like that deserve no place in ANY city.Taking any biased opinions out of the equation, even if it weren't against Saints fans, I would still feel the exact same way!

What do you think? Did the San Francisco police do the right thing in going undercover to catch those acting like jackasses or do those people deserve the right to cheer for their team however they see fit?
