Publisher Targets Spotify With Billion Dollar Lawsuit

Music streaming services are popular with just about everybody, right? Uh, no! Musicians record executives & music publishers loathe them. Musicians complain the royalties are a joke. A music publisher has hjt the popular streaming service Spotify with a 1.6 billion dollar copyright lawsuit. Inside Radio reports, Wixen Music Publishing has charged the streaming service is playing more than 10,000 songs it's not licensed to play. Wixen holds the rights to songs by the Black Keys, Tom Petty, The Doors, Doobie Brothers, Weezer, Rage Against the Machine, and hundreds more. Wixen claims,  "Spotify brazenly disregards United States Copyright law and has committed willful, ongoing copyright infringement." Spotify settled with the National Music Publishers Association for $3 million in 2016. I imagine we'll see more of this type of thing in the near future. By the way, I don't have Spotify.
