A Richton, Mississippi man was arrested yesterday afternoon at the Bayou Vista WalMart after he was seen begging for money.

A St. Mary Parish Sheriff's deputy said he saw a man at Walmart begging for money. The man had a badge and some handcuffs on his hip.

When the deputy approached the individual to investigate further, the man said his name was Steven Morris. At first, he told the officer he was with "the fugitive task force".

When the deputy pointed out that Morris' badge actually said Forrest County Sheriff's Office, Morris told the deputy he had lied. He was not a policeman.

The deputy said when he called Forest County Sheriff's Office in Mississippi they told him the badge Morris had matched the description of a badge that had been missing for several years.

Twenty-two-year-old Steven Morris was arrested for impersonating a peace officer.
