Opelousas – Rape Suspect Found Sleeping In Victim’s Bed

An Opelousas man was arrested and accused of raping an elderly woman repeatedly for several hours. The police found the man sleeping in the victim's bed, and arrested him.

Karl Shelvin, 31, was booked on counts of aggravated rape and home invasion in the attack.

The 88 year old victim said she was asleep and awoken by a man who repeatedly raped her for several hours. After the man fell asleep, she was able to run out of her house and alert a neighbor, who then called police.

Shelvin was arrested and booked for aggravated rape and home invasion.

This was not the first encounter that Shelvin had with the victim. Back in April, she reported to police that he was lurking around her property. He spent 22 days in jail for trespassing.
