Old People Who Played Teenagers

Why do old people get cast as teenagers so much in movies and TV shows? Take Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly in my personal favorite trilogy of all time, Back To The Future. He was 24 when he filmed the first movie. By the end of the trilogy he was almost 30, still playing a 17 year old. Not saying he didn't do it well, but I just find it odd that Hollyweird does that.
