Last year's NFL Draft featured a lot of purple and gold moments. In the 2017 version of the draft, there were three LSU players taken among the first 32. Those players were Leonard Fournette, Jamal Adams, and Tre'Davious White. Those players went to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New York Jets, and the Buffalo Bills respectively.

The year's draft? Not so much purple and not so much gold as far as NFL fortunes for former Tiger players. If we're being honest there was really only one player, Derrius Guice that had a decent shot at being picked in the first round. White was in Arlington Texas last night for the draft in case his name was called. It wasn't.

A lot of draft pundits do feel that LSU will have an impact in tonight's second round of the selection show. Besides Guice, Donte Jackson and D.J.Chark could be selected by NFL teams. If they were, I don't think anyone would be surprised.

Looking back to previous NFL drafts LSU has fared well in placing athletes into the league. Beginning in 2004 an LSU player had been selected in the first round of the draft in 10 of the 11 years leading up to 2015. There were no first round Tigers taken in that draft or the 2016 draft.
