Major Fire In Downtown Mamou

The Mamou Fire District is on the scene of a major fire in downtown Mamou.

The building on fire is a vacant gas station on 6th street, not far from Fred's Lounge. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but several fire departments have come together to get this massive blaze under control.

There is no word if any of the surrounding buildings near the vacant gas station have been damaged by the fire.

The Mamou Fire Department is asking for all citizens to avoid the area.

UPDATE: The fire has been extinguished in Mamou and it is believed that the fire started inside the building, where someone was working on a vehicle.
