According to the AP in 2018, Orthopedic surgeon Grant Robicheaux, of Newport Beach — who previously appeared on a Bravo TV show called “Online Dating Rituals of the American Male” — and his girlfriend Cerissa Riley were charged with rape by use of drugs, kidnapping, and other crimes. At the time, authorities alleged that the pair plied their victims with drugs and sexually assaulted them when they were incapable of resisting.

He and his girlfriend, Riley, were accused of sexually assaulting multiple women. The case unfolded in 2018 when authorities found videos and photographs on Robicheaux's phone suggesting the involvement of illicit substances and non-consensual activities during parties at his California home. The prosecution argued that Robicheaux and Riley preyed on vulnerable women and used drugs to facilitate sexual assault. However, the defense contended that all encounters were consensual and that the media sensationalized the case.

Despite the intense scrutiny, the trial's outcome ultimately favored the defense, with the couple being acquitted of some charges 2020 due to insufficient evidence.
