Former New Orleans Saints safety Jairus Byrd is back in the NFL.

After being named to the Pro Bowl three times in five years, while a member of the Buffalo Bills, Byrd signed a 6-year, $50 million contract with the Saints in 2014, including $28 million of guaranteed money.

Things didn't work out exactly as planned, however, as Byrd played in only four games in 2014, prior to spending the rest of the season on injured reserve.

A native of San Diego, California, Byrd compiled 53 tackles and one interception in 2015, before having his best season with New Orleans in 2016, accumulating 82 tackles and two interceptions in all 16 games, including 15 starts.

Those three interceptions in his three seasons with the Saints were 15 fewer than the 22 he totaled in his five seasons in Buffalo.

The Saints released Byrd in March.
