Superintendent Jerome Puyau says small-town politics is to blame for the decision to place him on paid administrative leave. The decision comes after an open letter urging him to resign was published in the Abbeville Meridional last weekend. The decision to bar him from school campuses wasn't a complete surprise to Puyau. He said attorneys and some Board Members warned him that he would effectively be suspended.
