Ex-Pantera bassist Rex Brown has commented on the death of his former bandmate Vinnie Paul, saying, "The last few days have been very difficult and painful. At this time, I need more time to process my feelings," he said in a post on his official Facebook page, "Thank you for all the love that has been sent. A formal press release will be coming shortly. Rest In peace brother Vinnie!”

Brown was Pantera's longtime bassist. He was with the band from 1982 until 2003. He is also a former member of the band Down, which features Pantera's Philip Anselmo on vocals. Brown is currently the bassist for Kill Devil Hill, and also released his debut solo album, Smoke on This, in 2017.

News broke Friday night (June 22) that the Pantera and Hellyeah drummer had died at the age of 54. His death was confirmed by Pantera's official Facebook account in a social media post.

There has been an outpouring of love for Paul from the metal community and beyond. To see additional tributes from the rock, metal and entertainment industry, head over to this post, and here to see what Hellyeah guitarist Tom Maxwell said on behalf of the band.
