Marvel announced that their first female-led movie will hold production in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Captain Marvel is set to be released in theaters on March 8, 2019. Principal photography for the movie has already begun in Los Angeles, per a report from Marvel.

While Los Angeles will serve as the production base for the film, production will also hit Fresno, CA, as well as New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Captain Marvel is set in the 90's when Carol Danvers (Academy Award Winner Brie Larson), an Air Force pilot, suffers an accident that fuses her DNA with that of an alien. This gives her super human powers, as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes.

Here is the official synopsis from the studio:

Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.  Set in the 1990s, "Captain Marvel" is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While the production base may be in Los Angeles, any kind of production on a film that's sure to have a giant budget means good things for jobs in Louisiana.
