The Federal Communications Commission, through a unanimous vote, has decided that there will be a code to be broadcast across an area if law enforcement officers are in danger.

Once a month you hear and/or see a test of the "Emergency Alert System", and now you will hear a similar type of alert call Blue Alerts.

The new alerts will be dubbed Code BLU.

These alerts will be sent over the EAS system and the Wireless Emergency Alert System according to Inside Radio.

If there is imminent danger or an imminent threat to the safety of police officers, then the Blue Alert will go out over the system.

The idea of a Blue Alert began after the ambushing of two New York City police officers, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.

The killer walked up to their car and shot them to death.

The order will also give a year long period the new code system to be put into place.
