Typically, during the summer months, our community blood supply dwindles. There are many factors that contribute to a lower supply, including summer vacations, higher blood use (more crashes and injuries), a break in routine (because kids are out of school), etc.

Our radio stations have partnered again this year with United Blood Services to help alleviate the blood shortage in Acadiana. The Race Against the Clock Marathon Blood Drive not only helps replenish the supply of blood in Acadiana, it also gives donors the opportunity to win great prizes.

Prizes to be won range from a hotel stay with dinner at Mr. Lester's Steakhouse at Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel, a Pandora bracelet, a GoPro, a 49" Smart LED TV, an Amazon Echo, a $300 Amazon gift card and lots of other great prizes.

Every donor will receive a Race Against the Clock event t-shirt, a coupon for a free pretzel from Auntie Anne's, a coupon from Comet Cleaners, a free slushie from McDonald's and free Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches (while supplies last, of course).

The latest addition to the Marathon Blood Drive is a chance to spin the Prize Barrel!  All donors will be able to choose an additional prize from the Prize Barrel, which will be filled with goodies from local restaurants and merchants.

Additional prize drawings will be held to give away a $200 Walmart gift card on each day of the event, and one lucky donor who donates this summer will win a dream vacation, worth (up to) a $6,000!

The Race Against the Clock Marathon Blood Drive will take place on July 13 and 14 at United Blood Services, 1503 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette.

To schedule an appointment to donate, go to the United Blood Services website or call 337-235-LIFE (5433).
