Legislators pushed a bill through that may allow movie theaters to sell beer, making beer and a movie a possible reality in Louisiana.

[JoBo Note] I can remember when The Grand 16 movie theater was being built. There were rumors that you'd be able to purchase beer and other alcoholic beverages there whilst watching a movie. The "other alcoholic beverages" part was kinda true. There's some daiquiris/margaritas that you can buy. I had just turned 21 when it opened. In my young mind, I was disappointed that I couldn't buy a beer then watch a movie. Well, 21 year old me may be able to rejoice here soon! [End JoBo Note]

Senate Bill 654 would allow theaters to sell beer to patrons. State Sen. J.P. Morrell, D-New Orleans, sponsored the bill to clarify what theaters can sell.

While state Sen. Greg Tarver, D-Shreveport, pushed his worries that people could get too intoxicated and act an ass while you're at the movie theater with your family, he was overruled. The bill now moves to the Senate floor.

Under this bill, theaters would have to separate their alcohol counters with regular concession counters. There will be no buying of beer and popcorn at the same counter, dammit! They will punish you and make you go to TWO DIFFERENT counters! Oh, the horror!

Bring on your two counters...I think I can take it.

What are you thoughts?
