A favorite venue in Baton Rouge could close on December 31st.

Chelsea's owner, Dave Remmetter, says the business is for sale. He says says he does have a group of interested parties that he hopes will take over the business., but if it's not sold by year's end, then the popular restaurant and music venue will close it's doors.

He gives a couple of reasons for why he's looking to sell. Along with other business projects like being part owner of The Radio Bar, Bin-Q Liquor, and the upcoming Mid City Beer Garden, here's what else he had to say about Chelsea's.

“I have had a great run in this location,” Remmetter said. “Over the last couple of years, I’ve been dealing with a leaky roof, and I’ve been having a hard time renegotiating the lease. Chelsea’s got me in this business. I have to thank my parents, my staff and my clientele. I’ve struggled with it for awhile, though. It doesn’t define me, and I have to shift my focus.”

Remmetter's hopes are that the business is bought, and kept the same, at least for a time being.

“I don’t want the employees to find another job,” he said. “These new owners would possibly keep it the same for a period of time. I know they just want to get in and do it. I’d like to sell it and have my employees continue to work and make a paycheck.”

The parties and shows that are booked for this month will go on as scheduled.
