The Last House is a historic Victorian home built in 1899 by James McNaspy, father of the first athletic director at SLI (now UL).

The house, located at 449 N. Sterling St. in Lafayette, is known as "The Last House" because it literally was the last house at the edge of town when it was built. It sat abandoned for decades, rendering it uninhabitable.Raccoons made the house their home.

A massive restoration is now underway. The renovations have been dealt a severe setback by the recent theft of rare antiques original to the house. French doors, the stair rail, and other items were taken. Antique collectors around the state are asked to keep an eye out for these items. Click here for photos & video. If you spot theses items, please contact the Lafayette police department.
