Ace Frehley + Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready Play KISS’ ‘Cold Gin’ in Seattle

Ace Frehley just wrapped up a three week stateside tour, finishing the run in Seattle, Wash. with a surprise guest. The city is no stranger to its share of rock greats and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready joined Ace onstage to perform the classic KISS cut “Cold Gin” at the Neptune Theatre on Saturday (Feb. 11).

The former KISS guitarist was on the road continuing to support his latest release, the covers album Origins. Vol. 1. The record featured a number of guest contributors, including McCready who laid down guitar work on “Cold Gin.” Following a brief introduction from Ace, the crowd erupted with applause for the hometown hero and the familiar opening guitar lick signalws the start of the song. A fan-filmed clip can be seen at the top of the page in higher quality and the full performance below.

Also guesting on the covers album was Frehley’s former KISS bandmate Paul Stanley, who performed on the Free song “Fire and Water.” Stanley’s appearance in the music video for the track furthered speculation that Frehley would be making another return to KISS for his third tenure with the band.

These rumors have been shot down, most recently by Frehley himself who told Eddie Trunk, “I haven’t been contacted. I’m not ruling it out. It’s a possibility, I guess.” Open to the opportunity, he also explained that the decision is not his to make. “But the ball’s in Paul {Stanley] and Gene’s [Simmons] court,” he added. “If that’s something that they would like to do to end off the career of KISS, I think it could be… if it was handled correctly, it could be great.”
