Chances are an Easter basket near you will contain some plastic grass, a chocolate bunny, maybe a peanut butter egg and the mainstay of the Easter candy tradition, The Peep. Peeps Candy are made by the Just Born company. Oddly enough they are not the most popular candy created by that company. There are a lot of stories, myths, and legends about Peeps and their ability to survive alongside the cockroach in a nuclear holocaust. I don't know about that, but I do know the folks at Mental Floss put together a list of 20 Facts about Peeps that you might want to check  out. We did, and decided to share our six favorite facts with you.

Peeps Are Available In Liquid Form

I can only imagine the kind of person that would like a nice tall glass of Peeps. I would have to  liken the experience to drinking a can of Eagle Brand Milk. You know the thick gooey stuff you use in pies? I've never seen nor never tried, nor do I really want to sample liquid Peep. But because pot is becoming legal in more places I figured some of you might want to know about it.

How Many Peeps Equal The Weight Of One Boy Band?

I have to hand it to the folks at Mental Floss, that was a question that had been burning inside me for never. But it does make an interesting read doesn't it? According to Mental Floss if you wanted to balance the scales between a typical boy band and a mountain of Peeps, you'd need 37,000 pieces of marshmallow goodness to equate to the weight of the band One Direction. Since that Zayn Malik bailed they did scale that number back just a bit.

It Used To Take More Than A Day To Make A Peep

In fact the total Peep creation time at the very beginning of the Peep legacy was 27 hours. Today because of modern manufacturing capabilities and mass production techniques the people at Just Born can hatch a Peep in about 6 minutes.  The yellow chicks are still the favorite of Peep fans with the yellow bunnies running a close second in the fan voting.

Millions Of Peeps Are Created Everyday

It's hard to think of Peeps taking over the world but when you consider they are created at rate of 5.5 million everyday it's a good thing they aren't armed and don't come with a political agenda. The Just Born company makes 57 times more peeps per year than Apple makes iPhones. The even better part of about that fact is this, the Peeps people don't feel the need to  upgrade their product every three months to make us buy more of them. The recipe has been basically the same since the beginning in the '50's.

Peeps Are Highly Coveted In The Creative Community

I know what you're thinking, those crazy artists smoke a lot of pot and therefore they always have Peeps on hand. Not so fast my friend, the Peep has fast become a medium of choice in many different art circles. There are entire art competitions dedicated to the use of Peeps. From what I understand one of the largest such competitions in the world is in our nation's capital where no one has ever been accused of being high and making bad decisions before.

    Peeps Can Be Destroyed

The only real way that I have ever seen a Peep destroyed was by my own digestive system but I don't think any of us wants to investigate that. However, the idea that Peeps could survive just about anything was put to the test by some students at Emory University in Atlanta. They tried microwaves, boiling water, Susan Boyle records, and Harlem Shake videos but still the Peeps held their ground. It actually took some serious acid to bring the Peeps down to a less than Peep-like state. However, these scientists could not find a way to destroy the eyes of the Peep. It's like they were looking from beyond the grave into humanity's very soul.
